Raising our Beef

Buzzy and Marie Nungesser (Lois' parents) taught us
much about the respect and reverence for nature
and the beauty of a small farm. There was a deep and mutual
respect for the animals. The animals depended on them and
they on the animals.

tODAY, OUR ANIMALS ARE RAISED WITH THAT SAME RESPECT FOR NATURE AND SMALL FARMING.  WE DO NOT EXCEED THE FARM CAPACITY OF MORE THAN 20 ANIMALS IN ORDER TO GIVE PROPER CARE.  ANIMALS ARE ATTENDED TO EACH DAY, WHICH ALLOWS US TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST DEGREE OF ANIMAL WELFARE.  THE COWS ARE NATURALLY BRED, WE DO NOT ARTIFICALLY INSEMINATE.  OUR CALVES ARE BORN ON PASTURE IN THE PLEASANT FALL WEATHER.  THEY ARE NATURALLY WEANED BY THE MOTHERS AND THRIVE ON MOTHER'S MILK, GRASS AND HAY.  OUR ANIMALS ARE NOT OVERCROWDED AS THEY'RE ON PASTURE YEAR ROUND WITH PLENTY OF ROOM TO ROAM & LOTS OF TREES FOR SHADE.  THEY ARE NOT BRANDED BUT ARE IDENTIFIED WITH EARTAGS.   A FATHER AND SON VISITED ONE DAY AND THE FATHER ASKED HIS 9 YEAR OLD SON, “ DO YOU KNOW HOW THE MOTHER KNOWS WHICH CALF IS HERS?”  SURE, HE REPLIED – SHE READS THE EAR TAGS.  

OUR FACILITIES ARE IN TUNE WITH OUR PHILOSOPHY OF NATURAL SUSTAINABILITY AND RESPECT.   WE USE NO GROWTH HORMONES, ANTIBIOTICS, GROWTH PROMOTING PRODUCTS OR MAMMALIAN BYPRODUCTS.  WE FEED STRICTLY A VEGETARIAN DIET OF OUR OWN PASTURE AND HAY WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF CORN IN THE WINTER FOR THE BREEDING STOCK.

When you buy our meat, you know where it is
coming from, what it was fed and how it was raised.
